Head of Engineering – London – £100k p/a

Job Summary

We’re looking for an experienced Head of Engineering to join an ambitious FinTech business based in London. As Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading the engineering team, developing and delivering the engineering strategy, and managing the technical aspects of the product.

Responsibilities

* Lead the engineering team and ensure effective collaboration with other departments such as product, design and operations 

* Monitor performance, identify and troubleshoot issues
* Manage the product roadmap and ensure timely delivery of features
* Ensure compliance with data protection and security regulations

* Develop and execute the engineering strategy in line with the business strategy and technical roadmap
* Research and evaluate new technologies and solutions to ensure the product is up-to-date and efficient
* Oversee the development and maintenance of the product, ensuring code is of high quality, secure and well-documented
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering team
* Prepare technical specifications and create user stories

Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent

* 5+ years of experience in managerial positions
* Strong communication and leadership skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* 10+ years of experience in software engineering
* Expertise in software engineering best practices and development processes
* Knowledge of various programming languages and frameworks

Technical Skills

* Expertise in object-oriented programming languages, such as Java, JavaScript, Python, etc. 

* Understanding of distributed systems and cloud computing technologies
* Experience with version control systems, such as Git, SVN, etc. 

* Knowledge of security best practices
* Knowledge of DevOps tools and processes
* Experience with web frameworks such as Node.js, React, Angular, etc.
* Knowledge of relational databases, such as MySQL, Oracle, etc.
